The restaurant ‘Savoy’

The restaurant ‘Savoy’ was one of the first to appear in Yekaterinburg, it was opened early in 1900-s in the building of the Tsentralnaya hotel. For 70 years of its existence it saw people famous all over the world: Osip Mandelshtam and Vladimir Mayakovsky, Nikita Khruschev and Fidel Castro used to have dinner here.

The times of Perestroika were difficult for the restaurant. Though it had survived, it seemed to have lost forever the essential thing – the bygone atmosphere of aristocratism and unequalled quality of service. The luxurious furniture was replaced by modern and cheap, which was simpler in maintenance, French cutlery was replaced by home made ones; and the butler met the guests at the door no more.

However, in 2005, the management of the ‘Yekaterinburg-Tsentralny hotel’ decided to have ‘Savoy’ restored: former traditions, the quality of service and, surely, the interior. The reconstruction lasted for one year with the help of the best designers and architects of Yekaterinburg. The interior of the restaurant was restored according to the old photos and the components of the interior decoration of the old ‘Savoy’ that have been preserved for a wonder.

December 1, 2006 the renovated ‘Savoy’ was opened again. Having been reconstructed as good as its original appearance, ‘Savoy’ offers its guests only the best things. You can enjoy the magnificent European cuisine, an exclusive wine card, the cigar bar and, of course, live music.
